This song is a 1996 Nine Lives outtake according to ‘Aerofanatic’, so we can’t be too sure about when this was written. What we do know for sure is that it’s a song written by Child/Tyler/Perry; as it wasn’t used by the band, Desmond Child decided to take it to other artists.

That’s how in 2002 Mexican female rock artist, Alejandra Guzman, used the song in an album thanking Tyler/Perry for letting her use it. She did the translation to Spanish and often mentions Aerosmith involvement during live presentations.

Later, in 2004, “Jonas“, another artist used the song, with a bit different style, he sings the song very well, this time in English.
Jonas later mentioned that Aerosmith shared a demo with him and that Steven even wrote down the lyrics for him before recording.
Lyrics:
Takes a lot of stones to make a mountain
takes a lot of tears to fill the sea
Takes a lot of rage to make it thunder
takes a lot of pain to pull me under
But if there was ever one thing I could say to you mama
when you left I got that I’m out the door’ look on your face
someday you ain’t gonna be so high and mighty
and we’ll say, honey, “welcome, welcome to the human race”
When the rain stops
don’t think the tears went away
when the rain stops
don’t think that blue sky ain’t grey
Who’s gonna pick up the pieces and put up the pain,
When the rain, stops…
Take a lot of time to find the one you
finally wanna give you heart and soul to
you take the good times with the bruises
like you’re never never never gonna lose it
But if there was ever one thing I really wanted
well it died that night when you said goodbye
it took a lot of guts to do what you did
but you’ll need it when you start to cry
When the rain stops
don’t think the tears went away
when the rain stops
don’t think that blue sky ain’t grey
Who’s gonna pick up the pieces and put up the pain,
When the rain, stops…
Shoot me and miss me must have been a, shame, shame shame,
A suicide kiss, with no one to blame…
When the rain stops
don’t think the tears went away
when the rain stops
don’t think that blue sky ain’t grey
On to the day when you get down on your knees and pray
When the rain, stops…
